6:50 a.m. - The Boone Town Council unanimously voted last night in favor of allowing emergency officials to close Howard Street and Appalachian Street for about six hours on June 12 for EmergencyFest.

This will be the eighth year EmergencyFest has been held in Boone.

The event gives residents the chance to see area firefighters, law enforcement, medics, and other emergency officials and their equipment up close.

Jim Landis of Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue said the event will be fun for both children and adults.  He said, “EmergencyFest is a carnival-like atmosphere where we have police, fire and medic units from this area and surrounding counties to come.  They get together and we get to show the public some of the things that we’re doing.”

EmergencyFest will be held at App State’s Raley Parking Lot from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday June 12.  This event is free and open to the public.
