On Friday, 6 middle school girls from Hardin Park represented Watauga County in the middle school’s Northwest Regional Battle of the Books. This battle took place in Hickory and included the best teams from 17 counties.

The “Lady Eagles” was selected to compete for Watauga County based on winning last month at the County level. While these smart young ladies did not place based on cumulative scores, they tied or beat the top 3 teams in the individual rounds. Despite being only 7th and 8th graders, these young ladies showed intelligence and maturity that the entire county should be proud of.

The team consisted of:

Madi Casey

Celia Jackson

Devinne Snook

Erika Walker

Lynde Wangler

Sidney Wiswell

And was coached by: Amy Hiatt and Candice Trexler
