Watauga County Parks and Recreation Director Stephen Poulos said he felt this week’s joint meeting between the Watauga County Commissioners, the Boone Town Council and the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Commission was very productive.

Poulos explained a recreation facility for the county is at the top of the list for all three entities’ master plans.

Poulos said, “I was very appreciative of Commissioner Deal and Councilmember Phillips for setting that up.  I think [it’s great] anytime the town and county can get together to talk and try and work together in some way to get that done.”

Officials discussed the possibility of using federals stimulus money to help with the construction of a facility.

Besides kicking around ideas on funding for a recreation facility, officials also discussed the possibility of a Greenway Trail connector near the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
