A kitchen cooker overheated around 1:30 Monday afternoon at Watauga Farm Diner on Broadstone Road, but firefighters said no major damage was sustained to the building.

According to the Foscoe Fire Department, firefighters from Cove Creek and Shawneehaw were also notified of the blaze as part of the automatic response system.

A witness told High Country Radio the small kitchen fire filled the valley with heavy smoke.
