picture.jpgThe Watauga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mountain City Man on drug charges on Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Len Hagaman, William Wayne Carpenter was charged with possession of methamphetamine precursor chemicals.

Sheriff Hagaman said detectives received information that Carpenter was allegedly collecting items that are commonly used to manufacture methamphetine from area pharmacies.  Detectives were able to find Carpenter and stopped his vehicle.  In his vehicle, authorities found evidence that Carpenter had purchased iodine and pseudoephrine products from different pharmacies throughout the area.

Carpenter was taken to the Watauga County Detention Center under a $12,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear in court on March 11.

Sheriff Hagaman said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
