ASU Athletics to Collect Money for Haiti Relief PDF Print

Appalachian State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Board will collect donations for those affected by last week’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.

As previously reported, the earthquake hit ASU athletics close to home because former App State wide receiver Hans Batichon and his wife, Claudia, are both from Haiti and have family still living near the country’s capital of Port au Prince.

According to school officials, donations will be accepted during the January 23 basketball doubleheader and Southern Conference football championship celebration at the Holmes Center.  All donations will reportedly be given to the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.

All fans who make a donation will be entered into a drawing to win an Appalachian athletics prize pack, featuring items autographed by football coach Jerry Moore and men’s basketball coach Buzz Peterson.

The ASU women’s basketball team will get Saturday’s festivities started at 1:00 p.m.  Residents can visit for more information.
