No progress made in Seven Devils golf course debate PDF Print

The golf course debate is "to be continued."

Community reports were expected at last night’s Seven Devils Town Council meeting- their absence led to the dismissal of the item from the agenda.

While some citizens were disappointed the topic was not discussed, they will not have to wait long for the next chapter.

A board of adjustment meeting next Monday will help determine whether Lenny Cottom will get his ski expansion.

Next week is only the preliminary meeting. While questions will be asked and expansion discussed, a decision on the expansion will not be reached until the Board of Adjustment’s regular meeting a week from Monday.

Town Council and Board of Adjustment member Bill Wilkinson will not take part in the vote on expansion, however. At a recent Tourism Development Authority meeting where Wilkinson is also a member, a vote on whether to support Cottom’s expansion took place. Wilkinson voted in support of expansion. Therefore, his impartiality would be questioned, were he to take part in the vote.

As to the golf course itself? According Wilkinson, committees should be able to complete their reports by next Town Council meeting. The meeting is scheduled for the second Monday in August.
