A Jefferson man was arrested after a 3.6-mile car chase Sunday morning in Boone.

According to Captain Jim Wilson of the Boone Police Department, officers received a call in regard to a domestic violence protection order violation on Cherry Drive around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived at the residence, Eric Hunter fled the scene in a Toyota Land Cruiser.

Officers pursued Hunter down East King Street and the chase ended on Highway 421 at the New River Bridge near the Bamboo Road intersection.

Captain Wilson said Hunter stopped his vehicle on the bridge, but struggled with officers who were placing him under arrest.  No injuries were reported in the incident.

Hunter was charged with domestic violence protective order violation, driving while license revoked, failure to heed light and siren, resisting a public officer, and speeding to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.
