Department of Transportation officials are continuing their efforts to clean roadways after this weekend’s winter storm blasted most of the region.

DOT officials said primary roads are clear throughout the High Country and most secondary roads have had at least some work done on them.

Officials said the foothills region including Catawba, Alexander and Iredell counties sill need work on secondary roads.

The DOT also wants to remind residents with snow and ice melting today and temperatures dipping to subfreezing levels tonight, roadways will likely develop dangerous ice in spots and residents should continue to drive extra cautiously.
