Organizers of Christmas for a Cause are finalizing plans for their annual benefit Christmas concert.

Billy Riddle, who is helping organize the event, said proceeds from the event will go toward his organization, “Why the Woods?”

Why the Woods is a locally based Christian relief organization that works to serve underprivileged people in Sudan.

Riddle said he hopes his organization can build a school in Wadupe in the southern region of Sudan when he returns in the summer.

The Christmas concert will be held at the La Quinta Inn on the Highway 105 Extension in Boone on Sunday, December 6.  The concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.

A Christmas for a Cause CD is also being sold at several businesses around the High Country.  The CD features Christmas favorites like O Come All Ye Faithful, We Three Kings, Joy to the World, The First Noel, and several others performed by regional artists.

Christmas for a Cause’s website reports that over 63,000 people were fed through last year’s Christmas for a Cause project.

Residents can even download individual songs for $1 each on the organization’s website,
