Several public figures, including Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson, will be on hand at the Boone Census office for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony next week.

According to organizers, the ceremony will officially kick off the 2010 Census in Boone.

The Appalachian State ROTC will present the colors, students from Parkway Elementary School will perform the national anthem, and Watauga High School Honors Chorus will provide music.

The event will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boone Census office on the Highway 105 Extension.

This event is free and open to the public.
