Nutritionist Boitshepo Giyose, a senior food and nutrition security advisor for the African Union’s New Partnership for Africa’s Development, is scheduled to appear on “Appalachian Perspective” through mid-July in an episode entitled “Nutrition in Africa.”

In the episode, Giyose talks about the importance of good nutrition to the African people’s education and economic development, as well as prevention and maintenance of HIV and AIDS. A 1989 graduate of Appalachian, Giyose received last spring’s Appalachian Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumna Award for her achievements and dedication to improving nutrition in her homeland of Botswana.

The 30-minute interview is hosted by Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock and airs in Watauga County on Charter Communication Channel 21 and MTN’s Channel 18. Check your local listings for showtimes.
