Firefighters gear up for July 4 PDF Print
Written by Lauren Ohnesorge

According to Steve Sudderth, Fire Marshal for Watauga County, it isn’t the fire danger that has firefighters on edge on Independence Day.

More than fires- emergency workers see a lot of personal injuries today.

Adults should never allow children to handle fireworks, he says. Illegal fireworks cause the most injuries he says- even adults should avoid the illegal projectile fireworks.

Mistakes happen- and they could be detrimental to fingers and faces.

Be safe, and don’t hesitate to call rescue workers if the situation gets out of control, he says.
