Hammer Now Says He Didn’t Kill Blevins PDF Print

After admitting to shooting and killing his nephew, a convicted Ashe County murderer now says he didn’t kill him.

Monte Mitchell of the Winston-Salem Journal broke the story.  Mitchell reports Freddie Hammer, who is already serving life in prison for the triple homicide at a Christmas tree farm in Virginia in 2008, now says he did not kill Jimmy Blevins.

In August, Hammer told authorities where Blevins’ body was located and admitted to killing him in exchange for a $15,000 reward from the Blevins family.

After the body was found, the Blevins family then filed a suit to get the reward money back from Hammer.

The Winston-Salem Journal says Hammer is representing himself in the civil suit, which is scheduled to go to trial in April.

Ashe County Sheriff, James Williams told the Journal that Hammer has not been charged in connection with Blevins’ death, but criminal charges are expected to be forthcoming.
