Ashe County residents who are in need of a little help in paying for energy and heating fuel can apply for the Fuel Assistance Program early next month.

According to the Ashe County Department of Social Services, the Fuel Assistance Program is also known as the Low Income Energy Assistance Program.

Residents should be aware aid is not given on a first come first serve basis.  Residents must sign an application and have eligibility determined in order to qualify.  Eligibility is based on October’s income, so residents are asked to bring verification of October’s income when applying.

Residents who qualify will receive a one-time check in February to help with heat.

Applications will be taken on November 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, and 13.  Interested residents can learn more by calling the Ashe County Department of Social Services at (336) 846-5719.
