The National Park Service will be hosting an Appalachian Harvest Barn Dance to welcome in the arrival of fall.

According to Ranger Linda Barnes of the Blue Ridge Parkway, his Halloween/harvest event will begin at the Bass Lake parking area.  The two-mile round trip walk will go to the historical Moses Cone apple barn, then circle back to Bass Lake.

Residents will be able to learn some old timey folk dancing, sit on the porch of the apple barn and have a cup of hot apple cider, and enjoy live music and dancers.

A craft table will also be set up for children to make either a cornhusk doll or a Halloween mask.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Appalachian Harvest Barn Dance will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Residents should dress warm and bring a flashlight.
