sketch.jpegThe Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect who allegedly kidnapped a grandmother from the Sawmills community, forced her to drive to Sylva, stabbed her twice, and left her in the woods.

According to the sheriff’s office, the white female victim was reported missing on Sunday by her husband.  The husband said the woman stays with her grandchild in Sawmills while her daughter works.

The victim reportedly left her daughter’s residence about 1:30 Sunday morning when she was approached by a white male asking for help.  When the man got closer, he showed her a knife and told her to drive toward Interstate 40.

The victim reportedly drove all the way to Sylva, in Jackson County, when the suspect told the victim to get out of the car and walk into the woods with him.  Authorities said the woman began to fight with the suspect in the woods and the suspect stabbed her twice, causing her to pass out.  When the woman awoke, she found the suspect had left the car and car keys, and she was able to drive to a local shopping center to call for help.

Anyone who can identify this man should contact the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at (828) 759-1526.
