Despite the dropping temperatures, Rangers at the Blue Ridge Parkway are sill hard at work organizing free events for children and adults.

There are two free events at the Julian Price Park Amphitheater this week.

The first is a puppet show about why the leaves change colors.  This puppet show will be held on Friday afternoon at 5:00.

A program about why some animals hibernate while others migrate will be held on Saturday evening at 7:00 at the amphitheater.

Another free Cone Cemetery hike will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 beginning at the Cone Manor’s porch.  This one-and-a-half-hour hike will take residents to Moses and Bertha Cone’s final resting place.  Hikers should bring water and a flashlight for this two-mile hike.

Don’t forget, you only have two more weekends to tour the upstairs area of the Cone Manor.  The tours are held on Saturday and Sundays, and while the tours are free, residents must call ahead and make reservations.  Residents can call (828) 295-3782 for more information.

As always, these events are free and open to the public.
