Rangers at the Blue Ridge Parkway have several free events scheduled for later this week.

According to Ranger Amy Renfranz, a special program about how to care for wild creatures will be held at the Julian Price Park Amphitheater on Saturday evening at 7:00.  Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary will be on hand and will bring a few of their rescued animals to demonstrate which injured or abandoned wild animals are safe to care for and which you should leave alone.

Don’t forget the 18th Annual Overmountain Victory Celebration at milepost 331 this weekend as well.  Events scheduled for Friday and Saturday include candlelight tours, a battle reenactment, craft shows and more.  The Overmountian Victory Celebration celebrates America’s victory at the Battle of Kings Mountain.

Finally, guided tours will be available at the Cone Manor every Saturday and Sunday until October 8.  Residents must call (828) 295-3782 beforehand to make reservations.
