The Hayes Performing Arts Center and the Blowing Rock Stage Company will suspend operations after this summer because of the economic climate.
According to Rick Suyao of the Hayes Center, the board of trustees is evaluating all options and resources available to resume operations at the center on sound economic footing before next summer.
The interim Executive Director and Producing Artistic director of the organization, Kenneth Kay, also turned in his resignation, which will be effective September 8. Suyao said financial struggles played a large part in prompting Kay’s resignation.
