The Town of Boone has sifted through over 120 applicants for the Boone Chief of Police opening and have shortened list to seven prospects.

The town’s Human Resources Director, Peri Moretz told High Country Radio the final seven applicants will come to Boone on August 12 and 13 for an in depth interview, a community presentation, a role playing exercise, and other procedures to help the town select Chief Bill Posts’ successor.

Today is Chief Posts’ final day serving as Boone’s Chief of Police.

Moretz said Captain Curtis Main will serve as the interim police chief until a new chief is selected.

The town expects to name a new Chief of Police before October 1.
