(Hickory)  Area law enforcement is looking for a vehicle that struck and killed a man early this morning near Hickory, then fled the scene.  WSOC-TV is reporting that the man had been dropped off by his family at NC 127 and highway 321 just south of Hickory at about 4am today, and when his ride arrived to take him to work, both the man and the van picking him up were struck by another vehicle.  The victim's wife and young daughter witnessed the crash as the man was thrown some 100 feet, according to WKVS, our sister station in Lenoir, and the man died at the scene.  The van driver tried to persue the fleeing vehicle, said to be a white Nissan Pathfinder or Xterra, but lost that suspect a distance from the scene.  The intersection at US 321 and NC 127 was closed and traffic diverted for the investigation.  So far, the victim has not been identified.
