Appalachian State’s Walker College of Business has two new scholarships in honor of alumna, Karen Lea Byrd, who died unexpectedly in February.

According to the ASU News Bureau, Byrd was a 2004 graduate in accounting and computer information systems and earned her master’s degree in 2005.

Her employer, Deloitte & Touche, established the Deloitte/Karen Byrd Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship will be awarded every year to an accounting major at Appalachian.

The Karen Byrd Memorial Scholarship for Business was created by Byrd’s friends and family and will be awarded to ASU business majors.
