calvin20cook.jpgThe Avery County Sheriff’s Office killed two birds with one stone when they arrested a couple of teenagers for stealing a truck.

Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye said his office arrested 17-year-old Robert Cook and 18-year-old Calvin Cook on Friday for allegedly stealing a Ford F-150 pickup truck.  When investigators arrested the two, they found evidence and received statements leading them to charge Calvin Cook with three breaking and entering charges at Betty and Carol’s Snackshack, the Move with Compassion Ministries, and Powdermill Baptist Church.

Sheriff Frye said his office had been investigating the three break-ins for about a month.

Both Calvin and Robert Cook are being held in the Avery County Jail pending bond or trial.

Sheriff Frye said, “I would like to express how proud I am of my detective’s office, they work very hard for the people of this county.  Our recovered property rate and rate of solving crimes is much higher than both the state and national average.”
