As Watauga County School officials continue to iron out how they will handle bus route changes, they have announced buses will travel several hundred miles less per day and at least three buses will be taken out of service.
Community Relations Director for WCS, Marshall Ashcraft, said the school system faces an expected $80,000 reduction in state transportation funding along with a reduction in around $31,000 for fuel allotment.
Transportation Director Toni Weaver Floyd is asking parents to fill out and return new bus assignment forms as soon as possible so school officials can work on mapping out new routes.
These forms can be downloaded and printed off from www.wataga.k12.nc.us.
Ashcraft said details about the new bus routes will be available by August 1.
