Rangers at the Blue Ridge Parkway have several events scheduled for the holiday weekend.
Ranger Amy Renfranz said Junior Rangers will hold a seminar called “Leaf Munchers” at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, which will explore the region’s herbivores. The Junior Rangers will meet at the Julian Price Park Amphitheater.
Rangers will also host an event called “Let’s Play Jeopardy on the Parkway!” on Friday evening at 8:00 at the Julian Price Park Amphitheater. According to the rangers, participants can test their knowledge about the great and small that define the beauty of the Blue Ridge.
A puppet show will be held at the Julian Price Park Amphitheater on July 4th at 6:00 p.m. The puppet show focuses on rattlesnakes and is called “Interview with a Rattlesnake.”
Rangers will also lead a sunset walk beginning at the front porch of the Cone Manor on Sunday at 8:00. While taking in the natural beauty of the parkway, residents also have a chance to learn more about Moses Cone’s influence on the region and the history of the Moses Cone Estate.
As always, these events are free and open to the public.
