doc.jpgDoc Hendley, the founder of Wine to Water in Boone, was featured as a CNN Hero and appeared on the popular television show, Larry King Live, Thursday night.

Hendley is a former bartender who now heads up a nonprofit organization that works to get clean water to needy people around the world.

Hendley has spoken at several area churches in recent months about his organization and about how residents can get involved.  Dan Hill, of Boone United Methodist Church, said Hendley spoke at the church’s missions conference over the weekend.

Annie Clawson, the vice president of Wine to Water, said a television crew met Hendley in Charlotte on Tuesday and recorded while Larry King interviewed Hendley via telephone.

More about Hendley and Wine to Water can be found at www.CNN.com/heroes.
