pdr_2051.jpgA female passenger was injured in a wreck involving a dump truck and a Toyota minivan around 11:15 Thursday morning in front of Back Yard Burgers on Blowing Rock Road in Boone.

Sergeant Scott Mackler with the Boone Police Department responded to the scene.

Mackler said 70-year-old Sheldon Hanst was attempting to turn his minivan left off of Blowing Rock Road into the Shops at Shadowline, when his vehicle was hit by a dump truck.

A female passenger who was in the minivan was transported to Watauga Medical Center.  Her condition is unknown.

Mackler said Hanst was cited for unsafe movement.

The minivan sustained damage on its front and passenger side and the dump truck appeared to have minor aesthetic damage near the front of the vehicle and a busted radiator.

The wreck had traffic slowed in the southbound lane of Blowing Rock Road and northbound traffic was rerouted through the Shops at Shadowline parking lot.

Boone Police, Boone Fire, and Watauga Medics responded to the scene.
