Sources Say Buzz Peterson will be Named ASU's Head Coach PDF Print

Sources close to Appalachian State University say Buzz Peterson will be named the head men's basketball coach at ASU.


The source said the university would officially name Peterson the head coach Wednesday morning.


Peterson was the Mountaineers’ coach from 1996 until 2000.  He lead the Apps to a Southern Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament bid in 2000.


Peterson left ASU to coach at Tulsa, then Tennessee, and finally Coastal Carolina before working with the Charlotte Bobcats as the player personnel director.


While coaching the Mountaineers, Peterson amassed a 79-39 record.


No contract information has been made available by Appalachian State University.
