Burke County emergency personnel were able to rescue a 10-year-old boy after he fell off a 30-foot embankment at Linville Falls on Thursday.

According to Burke County Search and Rescue the boy did not sustain any major injuries and did not require medical transport.

The boy, whose name has not been released, fell around 3:20 Thursday afternoon.

It took emergency personnel around an hour-and-a-half to retrieve the boy from the woods.

Records indicate authorities had voice contact with the victim, but do not state who was with the boy at the time of the fall.

Burke County Search and Rescue, Burke County Emergency Management, Burke County EMS, a REACT team, Outward Bound, and Jonas Ridge Fire and Rescue all reported to the scene.
