A Florida man has died after jumping from Looking Glass Falls in the Pisgah National Forest according to Authorities.

Lieutenant Brian Kreigsman, of the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Department, told the Citizen-Times of Asheville that 49-year-old Ronald Conrad Brown from Navarre, Flordia died during surgery on Sunday after he was airlifted to an Asheville hospital.

The Associated Press reported officials believe Brown suffered head and spinal injuries, as well as broken bones.  Witnesses told the A.P. Brown had climbed to the top of the falls and jumped about 70 feet into six feet or less of water near Brevard.

Brown's relatives told Kreigsman that he had enjoyed jumping from waterfalls since he was a boy.

Kreigsman told the A.P. he has requested a toxicology report for Brown.
