The Boone Town Council held a public hearing at their special meeting last week regarding the financing for a million-gallon water storage tank along Highway 194.
The water tank will not be a raised tank, but will be land-locked according to Town Manager, Greg Young.
The council said they received an estimate of nearly $670,000 for the tank.
No members of the public spoke up at the hearing, so Mayor Loretta Clawson halted the meeting for about five minutes to give members of the public longer to come and voice their opinions.
During the wait, council member, Stephen Phillips, joked about the pea-green color of the current tanks.
After the five minute break, still no residents appeared at the meeting to comment, and the council moved on with the financing decision.
The town expects to pay for the new storage tank over a three-year period through funds in the town water and sewer fund with no expectations of raising taxes.
Public Utilities Director for the town, Rick Miller expects the tank will be completed by the end of the year.
