The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office yesterday released the name of a man who died early Sunday in an incident on Lake Rhodhiss.  The Sheriff’s Office release said that on August 24th, at 3:44 am, the Caldwell County Communications Center received a call of a possible drowning from near the dam on the Caldwell County side of Lake Rhodhiss.  The caller stated that the victim and some friends were jumping into the lake from a rock cliff, telling investigators that the victim slipped and fell approximately 25 feet in to the water striking his head on the rocks as he fell.  The victim went under the water and never surfaced.  Friends jumped in the water but were unable to locate the victim. Emergency responders began a search in the predawn hours, then located the body of Gregory Paul Bordeleau, 40, of Valdese at 8:00 am Sunday in approximately 35 feet of water. The investigation is still ongoing but at this point this appears to be an accident.
