Just before 6:00 this morning, Boone Police responded to a report of a 44 year old man threatening to jump from a fourth floor window at the Marriott Hotel at 1050 Highway 105 in Boone. Watauga Medics, Boone Fire, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and other resources were called to the scene to secure the scene and try to talk the man away from his perch.  Just before 12:45 PM, Boone Police negotiators were able to talk the man into surrendering, and he was served with involuntary commitment papers and transported for an evaluation.
