Three More Arrested in Sex Investigation PDF Print

Caldwell Sheriff Alan C. Jones announces that three more men have been arrested in connection with investigations into incidents of Solicitation of a Minor to Commit Unlawful Sex Acts by Electronic Device as well as Dissemination of Obscene Material to Minors. In each of the cases the men contacted minor children and solicited the children via social media sites to meet for sexual acts. In all three of the cases the men arrived at a location to actually meet with the minor child and were arrested by Investigators.
The investigations were conducted as a part of a measure to combat the growing trend of abuse towards minors through social media and to act as a preventative of future potential sexual assaults on minors. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is a part of the ICAC or Internet Crimes against Children Taskforce which includes numerous Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
Brian Scott Garrison, age 29, of Statesville was arrested on May 18th, 2014 by investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office after he traveled to Caldwell County to meet a juvenile. He was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for  sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place. He was placed into the Caldwell County Detention Center under $100,000 secured bond.
Shea Andrew Tucker, age 29, of Hickory was arrested on June 16th, 2014 by investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s office after he traveled to Caldwell County  to meet a juvenile. He was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place and also with Disseminating Obscenity. He was placed into the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
Carl Dean Shook, age 22, of Newton, was arrested not once, but twice by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. His first arrest occurred on May 18th, 2014 by investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office after he traveled to Caldwell County to meet a juvenile.  He was charged with Solicitation of a Child under 16 years of age by Electronic Device for sexual purposes and appearing at the meeting place and Driving while his License were Revoked. He was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.  While out on bond for these charges, Shook was charged with Disseminating Obscenity to a child under the age of 13 in a separate incident. He was arrested by investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office on July 10th, 2014. He was again placed into the Caldwell County Dentention Center under bonds totaling $75,000 secured.
Sheriff Jones would like to remind parents to:
• Monitor your child’s activities while they are online.
• Know the passwords to your child’s email and social media accounts and regularly review the content.
• Become familiar with your Childs contact lists connected with your child’s phone, email account or social media accounts.
• Review content stored on your child’s phone and personal computer such as text or photographs.
• If your child is allowed to have a social media profile limit the amount of personal information that your child attaches to the profile.
• Follow the guide that all information placed on a social media profile can be seen by everyone regardless of privacy settings for the account.
• Report every incident of inappropriate conduct toward you child to Law Enforcement
• Become Familiar the various applications that your child may be using on their smartphone, tablet, or computer (Tango, Instagram, Facebook, KiK, Snapchat, Meet Me, Tagged)
• Make use of the Parental Controls that are programmed in to many of the devices.
Sheriff Jones reminds citizens that his agency is taking an aggressive approach to these sexual offenders that prey on children via  the -Internet.
