Today is the last full day of school for students in the Watauga County Schools, with the last day, tomorrow, to be an early release day. For students in the K-8 schools dismissal comes tomorrow at 12:00 and students at Watauga High School will be dismissed at 1:00. Tomorrow, a bag lunch will be served in all schools and school buses will run their usual routes. The last day of the afterschool program will be today. Graduation ceremonies for Watauga High School take place at the Holmes Convocation Center at ASU beginning at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, June 14th. The full schedule of graduation events is available on the Watauga High School website. But school activities starts right back up for some Monday, with a summer reading camp will be provided for selected current third graders beginning June 16th. Families of students recommended for this program will be notified by their school. Free breakfast and lunch will be available to children and youth ages 18 and under at Cove Creek School on Mondays through Thursdays from June 16 through July 22. This summer feeding program will provide a free breakfast between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. and a free lunch between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for anyone 18 or under who comes to the school cafeteria accompanied by a parent or other adult. And the turnaround for the next school year is less than 9 weeks for teachers, with personnel returning Wednesday, August 13th, classes starting August 19th.
