Two assaults of women were reported to law enforcement in Boone over the weekend, one, a sexual assault.  The first occurred on campus, with ASU Police Department asking the public’s assistance in solving the assault.  Their release says that a non-student female was struck on the back of the head while walking Hill Street near the John Thomas building at about 1:30 Saturday morning.  The woman was able to report that she was assaulted by an unknown white male who struck her in the back of head causing her to fall face first onto the pavement.  The woman suffered several injuries due to the fall and was transported by Watauga Medics to the Watauga Medical Center ER. ASU Police describe the alleged suspect as being a white male with blond crew cut type hair. Meanwhile, also from Saturday, Boone Police are investigating an  incident reported as a sexual assault.  Police say that on Saturday, May 10th, a call was  received about the report of a sexual assault.  The victim, a 23-year-old Appalachian State University student, said she was assaulted allegedly by an acquaintance.  Police say in their release that the incident occurred at an off-campus location, and that their investigation is ongoing, with no other details released.
