A man was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center in the early evening yesterday after suffering what was reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The call came in at a Rush Branch Road residence at about 6:10 last night causing Watauga Deputies to rush to the scene while Beaverdam First Responders and Watauga Medics staged nearby.  Then Cove Creek Fire set up a landing zone on US 321 at the Watauga River for the chopper to land and pick up the injured man.  The Watauga Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency in the case.
