Lenoir Police have charged a city employee with stealing funds from the town in the course of her job.  On March 28th, the Lenoir Police Department received a report of an employee stealing money, the report identifying Sherry Nichols, a customer service rep at Blue Ridge Cemetery on Wilkesboro Blvd. During the ensuing investigation, it was determined Nichols was indeed stealing City funds generated from sales made at the cemetery.  The release says all purchases of lots at the cemetery have been accounted for and no cemetery customers have lost funds that were paid to Blue Ridge Cemetery.  Nichols was arrested on the theft of funds, and her first appearance in court is scheduled for Monday, April 21st  in Caldwell County District Court. Nichols was place in the Caldwell County Detention Facility under a $50,000.00 secured bond.  Police note that this incident is not related to the larceny of bronze vases which was reported on March 3rd, with that investigation still ongoing. Anyone with information relating to this or any other crime is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 758-8300 or the Lenoir Police Department at 757-2100.
