The Avery Journal-Times, Newland Business Association, WECR-AM Radio/Glory 1130 AM and the Avery County, Banner Elk and Beech Mountain chambers of commerce sponsor the Avery County Meet the Candidates Forum from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the Hugh Chapman Center for Families, located at 436 Hospital Drive in Linville.
Phillip Greene, station manager and program director for WECR-AM Radio/Glory 1130 AM, host of “High Country Swap Shop” and a faith columnist for Avery Post, will serve as moderator for the forum, assisted by Sam Calhoun, editor of The Avery Journal-Times.
Attendance is free, and the general public is urged to attend.
Avery High School’s culinary class will provide refreshments during the event.
The forum includes appearances from candidates running for Avery County Board of Commissioners, Avery County Sheriff, district attorney, Avery Board of Education, NC Senate District 45, US House District 11 and NC House District 85.
The forum will be broadcast live on local radio, and will be available for online streaming via Ustream.
