A Blowing Rock man was trapped in his SUV after a crash late yesterday afternoon on Bamboo Road, his vehicle slamming into a tree almost at McNabb Lane.  The 4:40pm crash occurred as 66-year old John Holbrook dropped a wheel off the shoulder of the road and lost control of his 2004 Ford Explorer, according to trooper Goldsmith of the State Patrol.  Goldsmith said that the vehicle careened some distance off of the road before slamming into the tree, the impact jamming the doors on the vehicle, causing Boone Fire to have to work to pry the door open to reach Holbrook.  The man was transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, but no charges came from the crash.
