The annual County Convention of the Watauga County Democratic Party was held at noon Saturday in Courtroom 1 with a traditional pre-convention potluck luncheon. The actual Convention program took place in the courtroom at 1 p.m. with Party Chair Diane Tilson presiding, with the keynote address from Sharon Breitenstein, a 34-year veteran teacher from Watauga County spoke on “Being an Upstander for Public Education, Not a Bystander.” Democrats on the ballot for the May primary and the general election in November were also introduced and consider several resolutions were submitted from the precincts.
