It appears that the death investigation launched late Thursday night is leading investigators to believe the man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, although all the medical reports were not yet complete late Friday. The probe started after a man was dropped off at the Emergency Department of Watauga Medical Center, Sheriff Len Hagaman saying that at about, 9:40 p.m., WCSO Deputies got the preliminary report from Watauga Medical Center Police, a report of a man suffering a gunshot wound. Deputies responded to the Hospital to find that the patient had died from the gunshot wound, and the search began for a crime scene, one Sheriff Hagaman said spanned the entire County, from 194 North to 321 North. He said deputies conducted a preliminary interview with a female witness as the crime scene was located and processed. Shortly thereafter, all suspects from the scene had been identified and interviewed, with some concerns late Friday that some of the family of the deceased were still being notified. Sheriff Hagaman finally indicated late in the evening that it appeared that there was no prosecutable crime in the matter.
