Two teens were dead at the scene of a crash in Wilkes County from early Saturday, two others injured, according to the NC State Patrol.  Trooper J.R. Hall of the N.C. Highway Patrol said the two front seat occupants of the 1994 Mustang were both dead at the scene of the 3:30am Haymeadow Road crash in Hays, and he identified the two teens killed as the driver, Damon Bradley Anderson, 18, of Windy Ridge Road, North Wilkesboro, and Malik Maxwell Patterson, 16, front passenger, of Shady Lane, North Wilkesboro. Hall said both died of severe head trauma and had to be freed from the wrecked Mustang by the Wilkes Rescue Squad. The rear seat passengers, Evan Anderson, 15, of Windy Ridge Road, North Wilkesboro, brother of the driver, and Matthew Ellis, 15, of Brookcrest Circle, North Wilkesboro, managed to crawl out of the car and were transported by Wilkes Emergency Medical Services. He reported  Evan Anderson had severe lower extremity injuries. He also said that speed was a definite factor in the wreck but all four were wearing seat belts, and said the Mustang hit landscape timbers, a sign and a tree before coming to rest on the shoulder of the road. The trooper said the Mustang was northbound when it ran off the road, between Mountain View Road on the south and Yellow Banks Road on the north and the Mustang was headed toward Yellow Banks when it wrecked.
