A tip about an abandoned methamphetamine dump site led Johnson County Tennessee deputies to arrest the second of two Butler residents on numerous meth counts, then child endangerment charges last Monday. The Johnson City Press said Deputies picked up Charles Curtis Carden, 47, having previously arrested Ginny Lee Campbell in the same investigation in February. It was February 19th that Johnson County 911 dispatchers alerted drug investigators of a possible abandoned meth dump site alongside Sink Valley Road, the Sheriff's Office reported in a news release. Investigators found items used in meth labs at the site, along with items leading to suspects in the case. On February 26th, deputies raided Carden and Campbell's residence on Highway 67 West, Butler, and arrested Campbell. The Tennessee Methamphetamine and Pharmaceutical Task Force was called in for cleanup, and the residence was quarantined.
Campbell was charged with initiating a process to manufacture meth, aggravated child endangerment, simple possession of schedule VI drugs, possession of schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, 10 counts of promotion to manufacture meth, possession of schedule VI drugs, possession of legend drugs and maintaining a dwelling to manufacture meth. Her bond was set at $434,500.
Carden was charged with initiating a process to manufacture meth, aggravated child endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of legend drugs and maintaining a dwelling to manufacture meth. His bond was set at $119,000. Court hearings for both Campbell and Carden were set for April 9.
