The Watauga County Board of Education announced yesterday that members have selected six finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools, one to be chosen as the official replacement for former superintendent David Kafitz, who left after several embarrassing verbal exchanges were made public.  The release said that during the month of March, the Board will be conducting interviews, completing background and reference checks, and reviewing the qualifications of each finalist.  The release said the identities of the applicants are not public record by law and the Board asks that the community and news media respect the confidentiality rights of these individuals.
