A West Jefferson area man was pinned in his overturned vehicle in western Ashe County early this morning, the vehicle found upside down and against an embankment on West Buffalo Road at about 6:45am. Rescue units from Ashe were dispatched along with EMS and first responders, but just after 7am, as rescue arrived, 62-year old David Richardson was freed, and was transported to Ashe Memorial for treatment of minor injuries, according to trooper Kevin Aldridge of the State Patrol.  He said Richardson was headed west on West Buffalo when his Mazda Miata hydroplaned and skidded off of the road and overturned in a field, the soft-top car trapping him inside. Aldridge cited David Richardson for having slick tires on the car, which was totaled in the crash.
