Family of Wayne Hampton wanted a way to honor their father at his funeral that he would really appreciate. The founder of Hampton's Body Shop and Towing Service of Boone was given just that honor, as mother nature cooperated with a sunny afternoon for the final ride for the patriarch. Staff members served as pall bearers as the coffin was lifted to the back of a roll-back for the trip from Mount Vernon Baptist Church to Mount Lawn Cemetery in Boone. The procession stopped briefly at Three Forks Baptist Church, where the elder Hampton had been a member for many years and where he served as a deacon.
