More and more counterfeit money is being discovered in the area, with a major passage of bills reported in the Charlotte area this week, leading to three arrests. In our area, Wilkes continues to see bogus bills in deposits of businesses, the latest at the Wilkesboro Food Lion, where police were called after a man tendered a $10 bill found to be bogus.  Police began to track the path of the bill, determining that the man at the store did not know the bill was not real, and he gave officers the identity of a woman who passed the bill to him, and checking with her, she reported that the bill came from a local bank. Still following the path of the bill, no arrests have come in the Wilkesboro probe.
