There were two injuries—a man and woman—from an overnight crash near the Wilkes County line in Watauga County. The call on the crash came in just before 1 this morning on Sampson Road near the parkway, Trooper Hiatt of the State Patrol saying that Jerry Painter was the listed owner and driver of the ’92 Ford Bronco as the SUV ran off of the road to the right, hit the ditch and overturned.  Painter and a woman passenger were transported by Watauga Medics to Watauga Medical Center and treated for non life-threatening injuries while Hiatt investigated.  He said charges are pending against the Rocky Top Road Lenoir driver.
